The political speech of MQM leader Altaf Hussain came as a surprise with a dash of hilarity especially as the mention of Quiad-e-Azam became annoyingly unnecessary. People across the country lashed back as soon as Altaf Hussain began to draw parallels between the founder of Pakistan and himself and that, on the grounds of British nationality.
Let me not go the part where I praise our exceptional leader; whose character, endeavor and shrewdness has always made us proud, instead allow me to question why was there any need felt to bring in a leader of such a high stature as Jinnah, to justify your own political ends.
Is Jinnah or his circumstances in any way comparable to any one and least Mr. Altaf Hussain? Even if they are, the hilarity lies in the basis of comparison. Did Jinnah keep a British passport or a Pakistani passport? Any views on it? Anyone? Yes, Jinnah had a British passport. WHY? Because there was no Pakistani passport then. Duh. Oh no. Jinnah could have had a Pakistani Passport. How? No one knows. Comparison? Jinnah’s British passport was a compulsion. Mr. Altaf Hussain’s British passport is a choice. Right. Point of comparison? No point at all.
Was that the political Drone? Yes. How? Just like that.
Even though Jinnah has been often brought into controversies for his British aristocracy and earlier lifestyle choices but wait If anyone from our political arena attempts to draw parallels between himself and Jinnah..will we put up with it? No..we would slight it and laugh it off.
