PM To be Arrested, What Next?

PM To be Arrested, What Next?

While the first coming of Tahir-ul-Qadri had only cracked a few crackers in the mercurial political scenario of Pakistan, the SC issuing order to PM in lieu of rental power case has completely set it on raging fire. What an unexpected whirlwind of events!

The exceptional judgment of PM to be arrested was pitched right after Tahirul Qadri had delivered his thunderous speech slashing aside all the allegations attached to him. According to him, no power, neither America or agencies is behind him, he’s solely guided and supported by the God, his Prophet, the lawyers and 18 billion dilapidated people of Pakistan. Where Tahir-ul-Qadri was prophesising with surprising firmness that the tenure of the present government is near its end, and the change is very imminent, the SC very amusingly chose it as the ‘shubh mahoorat’ to pronounce the judgment. However, to put all the facts on the plate, the SC had already been sending notices to NAB to bring in evidences and issue notices pertinent to the case. And then, Ansar Abbasi vehemently refuses that there’s any viable connection between the judgment and the long march.

What exactly do you think might be happening? Is the government itself giving way to Tahir-ul-Qadri to come over and topple them? If not, how do you explain, a glaring absence of security forces in Islamabad and all the special facilities bestowed to him to make his long march a success. This sudden change of wind that has brought an unexpected agent of change might be a prelude to a whole new chapter none of us might have imagined.

The last I heard was Imran Khan going to bring about the change. How? No one including him knew. Now as the recent events have unfolded themselves, what is evident is that change may be our destiny but Imran might not bring it. However, no matter who comes and leaves, ‘the deciding power’ will remain the same, which may mean, it would only be a swap of faces and the rest will remain the same.

Smirks. I still wonder why Mr. Raja Pervez Ashraf, already embroiled in much corruption cases and controversies was deemed as the right choice for Prime minister’s office? Perhaps, he would have served as an easy sacrifice when need be…who knows. The painful thing is looking at the SC judgment, our ministry was handed over in absolute faith to a man whose character and credibility were in much question. So, we could slouch paying bills while our ministers continue to loot us. Why am I even surprised, the PM was only one such person. Who can vouch for the credibility of all the ministers sitting out there on tall saddles, while we mourn our dead beloveds on the cold streets on Quetta.

With the theatricalities at play on our political sitcom, all we can do is weave controversy theories and bet who will come or leave. For things in this part of the country are more unprecedented than Karachi rains. Let’s sit back with a bag of chips and see whose umbrella this storm is heading to blow off.

some connections…………….????…… NRO forces seems to be behind this whole drama

  • Jamal Shoro

All true for prime minister, its corruption and corrupt government at federal and in all provinces. The timing of the SC decision to arrest PM ssuggest that SC is part of the Qadri Game…. who is advocating for SC and Army as stakeholders. This SC decision is going to support the Qadri Design…. what you say??

  • M.Saeed

Madeeha, you have grossly missed the basic point.

We should never forget that, our energy-travails had actually started under a conspiracy hatched in 1994.
In our quest for culprits, there should be no sacred cows to be spared, no matter how much revered, for whatever reasons and all should be exposed and dealt with equally.

It would be remembered that, Citibank with Shaukat Aziz in the front, was instrumental in negotiating a highly imbalanced and one sided deal in favour of Rental Power Companies. Then as later the Finance Minister and still later, as Prime Minister of Pakistan, he consolidated his treacherous deals through various dubious means that an ordinary eye fails to even catch a glimpse of. He is silently reaping the benefits of his plants, safely perched in safe heavens. Here, it would not be out of place to mention that, at one stage, Hillary Clinton was also the beneficiary of those obnoxious deals, as legal advisor to one of the foreign power supply firms.

Unfortunately, my photo-memory does not allow me any respite. I clearly remember when our much loved and revered “Daughter of the East” and “Shaheed e Jumhuriat” announced in 1994, “Rental Power” as the “Corner-Stone” of her Government’s “Energy Policy”.
As the space would not allow, I would just mention a few glaring points of her policy, which inter-alia provided following incentives to the Rental Power operators:
    1) “Bulk tariff of US cents 6.5/kWh (to be paid in Pakistani Rupees) for the sale of electricity to WAPDA/KESC with indexation mechanism for fuel prices, US and Pakistani inflation, exchange rate fluctuations, O&M costs, etc.
    2) Fiscal incentives consisting of exemption from corporate income tax, customs duties, sales tax, Iqra, and other surcharges.
    3) Standardized security package which included a model
Implementation Agreement, Power Purchase Agreement and Fuel Supply Agreement, etc.

Under the Security Package, generous reimbursements were allowed to the Rental Power firms on all unforeseen eventualities. Therefore, Rental Power Companies earn more, by not “generation anything” and claiming all the damages.

v.v. interesting situation… I can’t buy Ansar Abbasi’s theory that its merely a coincidence… its a much much bigger game than we could probably imagine… so as you said let’s have some Lays and wait and watch….

  • Abdul Qayoom Sohu

SC right decision on wrong time, Mr. CJ is every decision is as like today’s decision.

  • Sajid Pervez

I don’t see any connection between the two events rather I would say that its all going well for the so called long march so far and MQM may reconsider his decision by smelling the situation. Moreover, I don’t rule out Imran Khan reaction to this whole new temperature of Islamabad.

  • M.Saeed

Why catch the tail and leave the whole elephant???

Rental Power was boastfully made the
“Corner-Stone” of Power policy of the country in 1994 by all know
who. Then, it was carried forward by the “Short-cut to Riches”
Shaukat Aziz. There are several others who joined the feast. Those who made
their Divali on burning bodies of the masses are all equal in their crime and
there must be no sacred cows to spare. Rather, these filthy-rich fat cows
should be sacrificed to make Eid for the masses.

  • Jamal

Rental Raja is only the tip of the iceberg. Mr 10 Percent is the real deal…or should I say, Dealer!

  • Jamal

Tsunami warning issued…….. Vote for Imran Khan

Great ‘timing’ — judge, great timing.

“Zardari should immediately resign: Imran Khan”

Who says only the Canadian is a crank — the immature shall remain immature – never grow up. As Faiz would say to Imran and the judge about the elections — “chand roze aur meri jaan faqat chand hee roze”.

“I still wonder why Mr. Raja Pervez Ashraf, already embroiled in much
corruption cases and controversies was deemed as the right choice for
    Prime minister’s office?”

Because “kabooter ba kabootar baaz ba baaz — koonud humjins ba humjins pervaaz” —

Mediocrity loves mediocrity — is very uncomfortable with intellect — that’s why Zardari couldn’t bring himself to nominate Aitzaz Ahsan as the prime minister.

    • M.Saeed

Zardari—–the “Maradona of Pakistan”—the great dribbler!

He has masterly tackled, dribbled and carried himself through all opponets, from brainiest-sharp, to the brain-dead morons, with complete ease and secured his goals at will.

  • Farhan Khan

Several judgments might be thrown about who might be behind these major coincidental occurences so close to the election time. The most important question is where shall all of this lead? My hopes and wishes are that good Muslims truely loyal to Pakistan come to the forefront this time and stay for long. We have had enough. Not sure if the man-made democracy really suits Pakistan. A land that was obtained solely to practice the rule of Allah freely. Only in Islam, can a rule not have immunity for his/her crimes. Democracy has provided immunity to the worse of all in power by citing the constitution.

  • Mohammad Jamil

OH madeeha, don’t try to concoct this SC order to be a conspiracy against Zardari and his party and you know these people served prison time on corruption charges and cashing PPP for their own benefits for last 5 years up to the extent the nation is almost doomed.

  • Muhammad Khalil Ansari

    Dear Pakistani Nation
If you want to change the history of your nation, don’t participate in any activity that is initiated by those people have no political history. Those people are only making difference between people. They have no agenda to change the life of people. They are talking about middle east change but they don’t have the change agenda and character. They are the people of wild work. I request you to save yourself and your family from riots. If you want change than vote those people have a character and join any party and develop pressure group in that party. Change the party behavior and change the nation history

Dear Hashmi Bhai, pl. do not forget to read the comments of Mr. Mohammed Rehman in the article ” Let’s Blackmail Bangladesh” in this Blog. I think Mr. M. Rehman is also among those some bellicose elements in India busy in concocting canards to denigrate “Doodh main dhula” Pakistan. REGARDS
