Nothing sells like religion in our country. Ranging from the ruling class politicians to the less fortunate lower class, our country is
governed by religious fanaticism with no check and balance on the simple pretext of this being a very sensitive issue. It’s like a
boxing day sale for everyone, everyday. Cheap, buyable and easily accessible to the diverse crowd. Tell people anything in the name of
islam and it sells like hot pancakes simply because everyone themselves are pretty much clueless. All they get to know is what is
fed to them. Now, I believe, science offers strong competition.
Only recently, a Mechanical Engineer Agha Waqar Ahmad Khan from Khairpur gave birth to an idea of a car that uses water instead of
gasoline as fuel. This gentleman believes that he has a kit that can be attached to the vehicles engine and using electrolysis he can split
water into its components, hydrogen and oxygen. He says he can then use the Hydrogen gas as fuel for the vehicle making it the much talked about but never achieved perpetual motion device. Sadly, this idea shatters the first law of thermodynamics to the core.
First law of thermodynamics states that Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Hydrogen Combustion reaction is exothermic giving off 286kj/mol. To make the reaction go in reverse you have to provide the same amount of energy. Therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE to extract energy from water. The fuel cells that Mr.Agha Waqar talk about is indeed a very old idea and dates back to the 90s.It was originally brought forward by Mr. Stanley Allen Meyer who claimed to have a device called the water fuel cell. Meyer’s claims about his “Water Fuel Cell” and the car that it powered were found to be fraudulent by the Ohio court in 1996.So essentially, not only is this idea, old and plagiarized but most importantly,it doesnt work at all.It CANNOT work.
Saddest part is to see engineers and scientists from our country, buying this idea. People like,Dr. Samar Mubarakmand , a so-called
“nuclear physicist”, and a popular figure in the nuclear program, who agrees that it is “feasible” to run cars on water. This leads me to the
only logical conclusion that our country can never even dream of becoming a developed nation. Why? Because our scientists and engineers, people who are responsible for building the future, are educated fools, courtesy of our obsolete education system. No one has a clue about what really is going on. Text book rote learning is all that our institutions have and are instilling in the minds of the generations. Analogy can made with the religious situation in our country. Its just like Us learning to read the Holy Quran but not having the slightest idea about what we are reading.
Things need to change and as clichéd as this might sound,we need a better education system. Meanwhile, for those entrepreneurs looking to earn some good cash, it might not be a bad idea to think along religious lines and more recently, just use science. People will buy it
