They are the Earth’s mightiest heroes and they have saved the universe from certain destruction in their own feature films, but never before so many superheroes have ignited the Silver Screen together as they will do next week in The Avengers. From Captain America, Thor to Hawkeye and Hulk, the Marvel Comics universe picks the best of the rest to deal with the combined menace of super villains.
So what makes The Avengers special and different than the rest? You may or may not have observed but in the post-credit clip of Captain America, Thor, Iron Man 1 and 2 as well as the final edition of the Hulk, Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) makes his appearance and recruits the film’s superhero for a mission that demands secrecy and loyalty. Well, in The Avengers, all the Marvel recruits make a collective appearance against the deadly villains led by Loki, the half-brother of Thor and one of the Gods that have turned rogue.
So The Avengers don’t intrigue you? Consider a movie featuring Superman, Batman and any other superhero you have admired, and you will know exactly how special this flick is for Avengers. Captain America (Chris Evans) is a super soldier who saved the world during the World War II and was trapped under the ice for a long time, and he makes his return after being resurrected nearly 70 years later. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) may seem eccentric to many but as Iron Man, he has all the tools to save the world from destruction. Then there is Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) whom no one wants to get angry, because you don’t want to see him angry as he turns into the Hulk. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is the only non-Human as he is the god of thunder, and it is his half-brother who plans to destroy the world. There are maiden film appearances for the rest of the cast including Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) as well as Nick Fury who hasn’t had a substantial role in Marvel movies as yet.
