Parks and Ms. Khan

park

A new vacuum salesman knocked at the door.

A lady opened it. Before she could speak,

The salesman rushed into the living room and emptied a bag of trash on the carpet.

Salesman: Madam, if I couldn’t clean this up in next 15 minutes with my new powerful vacuum cleaner, I’ll EAT all this trash

Lady: Do u need Chilli Sauce with that?

Salesman: why Madam?

Lady: Because there’s no electricity in the house

MORAL: Over smartness is dangerous in Pakistan.

Don’t know about others but I am sure that after banning from a local channel show Maya Khan (Host of Local TV channel’s Morning Show) will never try to show her over smartness to the people of Pakistan who are already fighting for their survival. But what happened with her on that day when just for the sake of ratings the great lady was playing with the feelings of common people?

I wonder that how Maya Khan and two dozen elite class aunties thought of taking such action. Who told them that they have the right to go public places seeking marriage certificates and explanations from couples? If you have confusion about what I am talking about, take a look at a clip from local TV’s flagship show,  you will get the complete picture.

Without any doubt, it was not a joke or a prank show at all. The morning show team, comprised of vigil aunties, actually ran around a park chivvying young most probably unmarried couples on live TV show.

The clip, which was broadcasted without consent of the harassed couples, is perhaps the least offensive part of this whole drama, and that’s enouncing impressive. Her clowns have been met by a range of reactions, mostly negative and annoying.

Why were the other aunties and the head auntie  showing their over smartness and why they were doing witch hunting in the name of making parks safer for the families? Ok so I am not in the favor of park dating and I think yes the parks should be made for families and children but what I am unable to understand is that who give them or anyone a right to offense young people in front of camera?

Did she have any permission certificate of abusing people at that time? I think no then on what basis she was abusing the people and asking wedding certificates from them with her team? I am little lost here, if The Host’s  sole objective was anything than self-promotion, she can rest assured it was accomplished.

If The Host has any sense of regret, she will use the same podium she used to disgrace the common person, to apologize. There is a very common saying that “People make errors, but human beings make ameliorates”.

Faiza be realistic. Public parks are for the public and TV-shows (Morning shows included) are for public entertainment. Combining the two is a two-in-on facility.

On a serious note, this may not be an acceptable way but, it has produced wonderful results. People are seriously having concerns about their children’s frequent outings on various excuses. Mothers are having sleepless nights because, they used to consider their own children angels. Perhaps, there is an urgent need to have CCTV surveillance cameras installed at all such places with warnings to people that, their activities are being watched. This should discourage them to some reasonable extent.

I am happy you wrote on this Faiza.

I was most disturbed myself at the manner in which a common man’s privacy was violated by Maya Khan. It was a deplorable act on part of the anchor. Samaa TV’s administration must take note of it and ensure that its employees do not intrude in people’s privacy. All the women who went on this mission together with the male members present there should be ashamed of their behaviour.

On an international news channel I heard a journalist comment and rightly so “Anyone in Pakistan holding a camera and a microphone considers themselves as an Assistant to God”.

I myself am no big fan of park dating but what she did and HOW she did it was extremely offensive. Who gave MK the right to question young couples ? Was she or her team the authorized team to do that ? If she was then even I can hold up a camera and start question people about their motives. That is just stupidity.

Sadly nowadays TV Hosts have become like Sales people. They need to sell their product i.e., their shows at ANY cost and I literally mean any. May that be the MK approach or inviting fake couples on their shows to discuss a domestic issue which people can get emotional about or inviting politicians who fight like cats and dogs on the channel and hug each other before leaving the studio …

    It is a stage

Charity begins at home, and so does morality.Education of a child begins at the cradle.Since,it is the home where a child’s education starts,it is the primary responsibility of the parents to nourish their child on the lines of national ethos and values. If the parents streamline their child’s activities into moral channels,he will grow into a moral being, and credit will definitely,go to them. This is simple. Contrarily,if the parents are derelict in the edification of their child,he will grow into an immoral being, and disrepute will definitely,go to them. This is simple, too.The bottom line is that it is the parents who are primarily, responsible for the waywardness of their children. So far,so good. But the question is:Who gave the a the “aunties” and their doyenne the authority to sleuth around young people to make the “parks safer for the families”?Are these “aunties” ‘thanedarnees’ or sheriffs to go around nabbing people? The act of unlawful rounding up of the young people and thereafter, exposing them to the TV camera, may entail a corollary of serious consequences for them, especially for the female ones.If the wronged ladies incur a disrepute,it will be a herculean task for their parents to search out proper matches for them.In other words, with their capricious and wanton act,the self-appointed moralist,ethicist,social-reformer “aunties” have put the future of the said youngsters at stake. It’s not Cervantes’ age of chivalry in which Don Quixote and his sidekick,Sancho Panza goes around in search of adventures. In this 21st century people are conscious of their civil liberties, and no sane person can have a temerity to walk over them.In quest of cheap popularity, the host and the” aunties” have indubitably ventured to take the law in their own hand. What is appropriate from the legal point of view is that the host of the morning show(Maya Khan?)and the abetting “aunties” are prosecuted so that in future,no bumptious busy-bodies, as the “aunties” and Maya Khan, take the law in their own hand through embarking on the projects which are not in their ball-park.
