In the late 1920’s the birth of color televisions was a huge boost to the industry, and was a technology that people were hankering after. As the modern era of stunning motion graphic approached, 3D televisions have started to attract interest of scores of people.

The 3D craze all over the country has contributed to such enormous popularity of 3D television that after Lahore’s Cinestar and Karachi’s Atrium, people want 3D in their homes as well. In other words, the current craze has started to shift from cinemas to our very home.

After watching Harry Potter 7 (3D), at Atrium cinema, another pleasant surprise was when my cousin notified to me that his father has bought a 3D television home.

The 3D pioneer who invented the 3D lens, “Chris Condon”, also the founder of “stereovision”, died at the age of 87, without ever knowing that his amazing creation will one day be a part of every household.

The Home Entertainment Displays recommended: “We came a long way since the old anaglyph red and blue glasses that come in cereal boxes, were talking about real 3D revolution from cinema to home”.

The Home 3D screens don’t come with the old red blue glasses but with the new LCD shutter. The old shutter could only work at 480i at 30frames per/sec, however the new one works at 15 fps per eye in 3D, so yes the flickering can surely make you sick.

The 3D home theater concept has already in the air and the seeing attention that people are lavishing on it may mean the 2D televisions will soon be side kicked by the new 3D fever and willbe a part of every household in a matter of no time. No doubt the 3D revolution is fast approaching and, the modern era of 3D dimension has rightly begun.

Like super VHS (S-VHS format)video tape recorders and cameras came and gone without our people even knowing about the full HD specifications, this 3D television will also go the same way. Being handicapped due to the use of goggles, only the fortunate few in possession of it can benefit from the new discovery. For rest of the onlookers, it would be just jumbled-up images with meaningless fake colours. Besides, the prohibitive prices, like S-VHS would make it the exclusive fun of the filthy-rich only.
